The Thai and Burmese have competed against each other for centuries, both in times of war and times of peace.
Each year in April, during the traditional water festival holiday, old style, bound fist matches between the Thai and Burmese are held in a small town on the Thai-Burmese border.
All the past tensions, battles, animosities and victories are commemorated in a series of exciting bouts attended by an enormous throng of cheering Thai and Burmese.
This annual battle serves as a catalyst for a further examination on how national pride has tainted history on both sides and why this has remained so over such a long period of time.
